Our Goal

We strengthen communities by supplying food and resources to underserved populations.

We have a focus on helping those who need us most: people living below the poverty level. military families, veterans, people with disabilities, those facing domestic violence, immigrants, seniors. or those facing unexpected hardships.

How we do it

Our primary ongoing project is twice a month food distributions for those facing food insecurity.  See FAQs on how you can participate to get food, to volunteer, or if you are a business willing to partner with us. We utilize the overages from the retail industry which helps reduce waste.

We also have special initiatives to honor our disabled military veterans living in assisted living, and other semi- annual smaller community projects.

  • How Can I Participate?
There are a limited number of shares available each week. An eligibility enrollment form and release of liability waiver will be required on site the first time you participate. Use the Registration form. You must first RESERVE a Share by 9 pm deadline on Saturday night before the Sunday distribution by requesting reservations on the website. You will then get a confirmation if shares are available. We do NOT take same day Sunday reservations as we are already sorting and preparing the boxes early Sunday AM. If you do not have a reservation and confirmation, you will not have a share waiting for you. Please be at the parking lot at 507 Weston Ridge Drive, Naperville IL 60563 between 12 (noon) and 12:30 pm. Since we never know the volume of food until that morning, we may be still sorting so we ask participants to be patient. We are completely done by 12:30 and if there are any unclaimed reserved shares at 12:30 they will be redistributed as items are perishable.
  • When Is the Food Distribution?
On the 2nd, 4th, (and 5th if there is a 5th) Sunday of the month at 12pm (noon)- rain or shine. Occasionally if there is a special distribution, we will email or text registered users to notify them
  • How much does it cost? (and why it isn’t free)
$10 you get a share of that week’s distribution. The contents are different every week, but it is always worth way more than the small fee.. We are all volunteer led, but we receive no funding from anywhere- and there are costs such as administration/ banking/accounting/ website and covers the sales tax too, when applicable. Each week you must put $10 cash for your share in an envelope stating YOUR NAME, the date, and the amount of money in the envelope ($10)We do not carry change so please come prepared with exact cash.
  • What kind of food is in the share?
Each week is different. Items tend to be produce, salads, meat, bakery goods, deli prepared items and not much canned goods. Nearly all of it is perishable. That is why we sort, pack, and distribute to our participants within a two hour time frame.
  • Why is it only at 12 noon are there other times to pick up?
Our items are mostly perishable so the goal is to distribute quickly to maximize food safety. Plus, we are all volunteers. It’s an event, not a store. We do allow for you to have a friend or family member pick up your share on your behalf if you can’t make it. Please note that on your registration. One individual can pick up for a maximum of one other registered person. Text us if you have a reservation you must cancel at the last minute.
  • Why Volunteer and How it Benefits You?
Volunteers are guaranteed the opportunity to purchase a share We can only operate as long as we have the manpower to collect, sort and distribute the food and resources. Our volunteers come from the participants who register. And, because they arrive first, they are first in line to select their share when it comes to distribution. We need drivers to pick up at stores, setup and sorting crew, and people to load and cleanup. Use the volunteer tab at the top to register as a volunteer. Volunteer spots are limited.
  • I know of a retailer/ resource that is interested in donating as a partner.
Please have them contact Michelle at michelle@resourceconnectionnetwork.org or by texting 630-607-2847
  • Are you more than just food?
Yes! Although our biweekly distributions focus on food on a continual basis, we are open to serving the community in providing a variety of needed material resources and connecting other agencies to each other working cooperatively to build a resource network to strengthen community efforts.
